The new Melon business cards landed on our desks this week. After much deliberation we had settled on a clean, simple design printed with a blue metallic and finished with matt lamination. They look and feel great - as you would expect, after all it's what we do.
What you might not expect is the inclusion of a QR code. These codes are already widely used in the far east with the US quickly following suit. When scanned with a smart phone the code links to a mobile version of our website. The web page page shows contact details, social networking links, enewsletter subscription and even a link to our office location in Google maps.
This is a great example of how by combining media, embracing breakthrough technologies and injecting a bit of creative juice we can create a unique approach, which helps drive our clients forward.

I'm involved in a business which is about to launch an iphone app. We want business cards with a QR code linking through to the apps website but we were thinking of having each card with it's own unique QR code, some cards would carry a code which would win a prize. Is this possible or should we be approaching it in a different way? CraigSteve | March 17th 2011 | 4:45 pm
Hi Craig, that sound like an interesting idea. It would be pretty simple to randomly generate a URL with complex code 'slug'. Then create a QR Code to link to it. The only downside I can see is the print process. You would need a digital run to accomodate the different versions and one off cards, which will mean lower quality. Happy to discuss further, you can mail me on: steve@meloncreative.co.ukNick | August 2nd 2011 | 8:59 am
Hi Craig, You would probably want to approach this differently, due to the printing complication of approaching the problem as you have outlined. I would print the same QR code on each card, and do the is-win logic on a landing web page.glyn | October 14th 2011 | 10:36 pm
Hi steve, looking for someone to design some customised QRcodes. Do you know anyone who can?? and roughly how much would it cost? to be set up for high res as needs to be printed on business cards, flyers and posters. thanks glynSteve | October 17th 2011 | 10:16 am
Hi Glyn, I have sent you a PM, with details of how we could help. Many thanks, Steve
